Sports |
Students participate in sports through the Our Lady of Mercy Parish Athletic Association. The Athletic Program features basketball and vollyball in the Fall and Track and Field in the Spring. To participate, students must be registered 1st - 8th graders enrolled in OLM Academy or active participants in the OLM/OLGC Religious Education Program.
The OLM basketball program offers competitive league play for boys and girls in grades 3 through 8. The season runs from November through March. The basketball program is open to students in grades 1 and 2 at an instructional level. A Summer basketball program is available during the month of July for students in grades 3 through 8.
Track and field begins in April, and all students in grades 1 through 8 are eligible to participate. Practices are held twice a week at Park Ridge High School. There are three competitive track meets held at area Catholic High Schols throughout May.
In 2009 OLM introduced a volleyball program which is for girls in grades 5 through 8. The Athletic Association is confident the program will expand to include all interested grade levels.
