| Our Primary School Division is located in Building One of the School. Classes within this division lay the foundation for all future learning at Our Lady of Mercy Academy. Along with an introduction to academics, a primary student’s education includes a knowledge of God, family, community, and a respect for others. |

Our Lady of Mercy Preschool Academy fosters an environment where children are encouraged to bring their enthusiasm for discovery, excitement for learning and passion for creativity. Our children are supported as they develop their independence and become comfortable with a group routine. Children learn through play and direct educational experience while parents and teachers work together to nurture each child's evolving self-esteem. We encourage our children to become problem solvers, to express themselves thoughtfully, and to grow in self-confidence.
Social development is central to our philosophy. Our experienced teachers create a safe environment for the children to move toward reaching their full potential with others by taking turns, listening and participating, and sharing experiences and feelings. |

Our Lady of Mercy Academy is offering a new preschool schedule of programs for September 2011. While they no longer will offer a traditional three-year old program, they will conduct a transitional preschool program for 3 1/2 and 4 year old children. This program will be held five mornings from 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Our Lady of Mercy Preschool Academy has also scheduled a kindergarten readiness program for 4 year olds which will run from 8:00 a.m. - 2:10 p.m. Along with these two sessions, parents will have the option of selecting lunch bunch, extended days, and after care. The children must be at least 3 1/2 or 4 by October 1, 2011 depending on the class you choose.
Our Lady of Mercy Preschool Academy has an academically oriented program in large, spacious classrooms with private bathrooms. The progam offers daily specials such as Art, Music, Library, Computers, and Physical Education. Within the supportive environment, the children enjoy individual learning, small group activities, directed learning centers, snack, outdoor play, and a religiion program with daily prayer. |

| The kindergarten program provides appropriate activities to nurture the young student's social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development. Children will grow in self-esteem, independence, and individual strengths. Our goal is to foster a high standard of literacy and number knowledge through reading, writing and mathematics. |
| first grade |
| Along with a respect for others, our first grade program establishes a foundation for all subsequent learning. A combination of differentiated, literature-based reading and phonics programs gives our students a strong reading platform. Commencing with first grade, the curriculum includes a flexible three-level ability-grouped reading program. Our students also attend a weekly ability-grouped class to challenge their mathematical aptitude. Language arts is comprised of English grammar and structure, writing skills, spelling, and handwriting. In science and social studies, they learn about themselves and the world through discussions and hands-on activities. |
