The Home School Association, the parent association at OLMA, is the social and fundraising center of the school. Parents are an integral part of daily life at OLMA and without their assistance the student experience wouldn't be as fulfilling. Parental involvement is vital for a Catholic school to thrive.
In order for the HSA to be effective in its role of providing support to the faculty and staff and enhancing the students' experience it relies on the participation of its members - the parents. As a parent of a student of OLMA you are automatically a member of the Home School Association.
The HSA registration is separate from school registration and requires a service commitment and a financial commitment, independent of tuition. There is also a $35.00 annual dues payable at the time of registration. |

| Service Commitment |
Each school family is asked to volunteer for one event from each category listed below:
- 1 School Service (i.e., Fashion Show, Casino Night, Art Auction and more)
- 1 Lunch Monitoring Date
|
If you are unable to fulfill any or all of the obligations, there is a fee for each service you are unable to perform. The amounts are as follows:
- School Service Event or $100.00 payment
- Lunch Monitoring or $100.00 payment
|
Note - The Newark Archdiocese has mandated that all volunteers who work with or near children in a parish or school setting need to take the Protecting God's Children Workshop. Volunteers may take the Protecting God's Children Workshop at OLM or at other locations throughout the Archdiocese if the scheduled times are more convenient. Go to www.virtusonline.org to register for a workshop. Select "Newark, NJ - Archdiocese" as your location. In adition to the workshop, volunteers must complete three forms: an acknowledgement of Archdiocsean policy, a volunteer application and authorization for OLM to do a criminal background check. |
| Fundraising Commitment |
| The fundraising commitment may be satisfied in two ways: raising $600 through HSA sponsored events and initiatives or making a one time payment of $400 at the time of registration. The opt-out payment of $400 does not negate the service commitment. A school family may elect to opt-out of service responsibilities for an additional payment of $200. |

| Why We Fundraise |
| The Newark Archdiocese mandates that all Catholic Schools in the diocese derive 10% of the school’s operating expenses from fundraising. The reason OLMA mandates fundraising is to ensure all school families participate equally. |
